blind nut

blind nut
A nut inserted or attached on the far side of a metal sheet or member to which there is no other access except through the bolt hole.
The blind nut rivet is placed into the pre-drilled hole in the one of the materials to be joined.
A nut-rivet installation tool is inserted into the blind nut rivet.
The installation tool is removed and the materials are fastened together with a screw or bolt.
The nut-rivet is drawn toward the material, and expands itself securely.
